IL LAGO - Podere Belvedere - 8 sleeps
The large house (165 sqm.), which is on two floors connected by a stone staircase, is named after the artificial lake which is in the fields below, beyond which there is a sweeping panorama down to the sea.
The house is in the central part of the building built in the late nineteenth century for the families of the farm workers. It has maintained its original structures with terracotta floors, ceilings with wooden beams and a stone staircase that connects the living area on the ground floor with the bedrooms on the first floor.
On the ground floor there is the living-dining room with a farmhouse fireplace with a wood stove, a kitchen with a stove and dishwasher, a twin bedroom and a small bathroom with washing machine.
On the first floor you find two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and two bathrooms, one with bathtub and one with shower. Very romantic is the room with the four-poster bed that has a small studio nearby, from whose window you can see the castle of Montemassi.
At the back of the house the kitchen opens onto a paved area with table and chairs, an old fountain and a barbecue, ideal for dining in the shade of the grape covered pergola. Another pergola is at the front of the house shading a large terracotta tiled area with tables and benches. Surrounded by a lawn with fruit trees and flowering shrubs, overlooking the valley below and on one side the castle of Montemassi, the other down to the sea (where on a clear day you can see the outline of the island of Giglio).
